My Life in II
Oil & gas development in Qatar has picked up so fast in the second half of 1997. Since my last 16 days-off in April, I didn't get any days-off or vacation until October! I got assigned to RasGas project which is the subsidiary of Mobil. We were working for 14 offshore rigs with only 10 engineers by hopping from one rig to another and get back to town once in a while. This is a very depressing period of mine. Luckily I got my days-off before I decided something else.
Days-off & Seminar - Jakarta
Half of my 16 days-off was spent with my commencement ceremony. It's a big ceremony in Thailand. I received my degree from the Royal Crown Prince. It was a great moment as you can see from the picture. The rest of my days-off were spent with my family/friends. Nothing special.
Here comes the interesting seminar in Jakarta. It is called Schlumberger School which is part of training program within company. Apart from the seminar which is no needed to mention, life in Jakarta was excellent! Everyday after the seminar it's the party time hehe....So, me and my friends went to top restaurants in Jakarta, tour around the beautiful city. By the way, the seminar was good as well.
Big Gift
After long waiting, finally I got an IBM ThinkPad 760XL and I'm punching this page from it. Schlumberger introduced new training program which is very much depending on self training and online training. Therefore, all the engineers get one notebook to work on (and to live on). I get more organized and more efficient. Bad side is I have to carry this mobile office and it keeps me busy all the time as if I'm working nonstop.
