Paris 2000 Celebration

Here are some pictures captured from my video camera during the Year 2000 celebration in Paris. The fireworks was so magnificent and various in styles, colors. I'm sorry I couldn't show you all of them because I think they don't look as beautiful in the picture as they were. Some of them look better on video. I will put the video clip on this page later.

5...4...3...2...1...Bonne Année!!!! Ouie!!!! This was the moment of the New Year 2000 at Eiffel Tower. It looked like the Eiffel Tower was launched to the sky!

(The dark spot in my picture at the bottom was just someone's head..haha...I really wished he wasn't there)

Then, followed by the lateral fireworks along the sides.....

It was getting more and more excited towards the end.....
With various styles and colors....and seemed like the tower was blasted and torn-off by such big explosion.

And at the end...the tower was lighted up with some 20,000 flash lights with one big revolving light on the top. These lights are still flashing and revolving on the tower all through the year 2000.

(you can't see the sparkling lights so obviously in my picture)

Then, we moved to Avenue des Champs Elysée. There were many shows on the avenue which were based on one concept : The Wheels. 12 wheels were put on the street which ended with one Big Wheel and the other end was the Arc de Triomphe.

The party on this avenue lasted all night long with millions walking around.

Click here too see the daytime view of Ave. des Champs Elysée.

I then walked back to my apartment along the side of the Seine river. That's when I realized that the water level was exceptionally high and flooded the roads along the banks. This was the result from the fierce storm across Europe during Dec 26-27 which reached maximum speed about 200 km/hr, causing the snow and ice on the mountain to break and meltdown.

So, here's the entrance to the Underwater Parking! (good luck, all the drivers)
